You may have heard of the Himalayas, but have you ever thought of going there? No worries, we will take you there, step by step after you arrive in Kathmandu. The next day we will travel to Pokhara by bus and then drive to Nayapul (1,035m), from where our trek begins. That day we will reach Tikhedhunga (1,525m) for our overnight stay.
The next day brings a beautiful oak forest walk with steep stone steps through the Magar village of Ulleri with blooming rhododendrons on the way until you reach Ghorepani (2,774m) with around 5-6 hours of uphill walking from Tikhedhunga.

After Ghorepani trek, we will hike to Poon Hill (3,200m) to catch the sunrise view over the Himalayas and trek to Tadapani (2,590m) for overnight stay. The memorable day will take us to Ghandruk (1,940m), the traditional Gurung village. After spending the night at Ghandruk, we then descend back to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara. This day in Pokhara, enjoy the view of the lakeside and the most beautiful city of Nepal. We will return to Kathmandu afterward and depart the next day to your homeland.
Trek Difficulty
This is an easy-trekking trail where an enthusiast of any age can participate and reach Ghorepani to witness the mesmerizing view of sunrise from Poon Hill and return back to Kathmandu via Ghandruk. Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Welcome to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. After you land from the plane, one of our representatives from Epic Trek Nepal will be waiting for your arrival and take you to your hotel where you can freshen up, rest and enjoy the local food while walking around the busy streets of Thamel.

Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara
Our journey begins with a 6-7 hour drive toward the Pokhara Valley and its beautiful Phewa Tal (lake), and then checking in to your hotel close to Phewa Tal. There is plenty to see and do along Lakeside, with its many shops, bars, and restaurants to choose from.

Day 03: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul (1035m), Trek to Tikhedhunga (1525m)
An early morning drive from Pokhara to Nayapul in a private vehicle—a short 1.5-hour drive. From here you will walk along a gentle trail through local villages, narrow paths, and rivers. As you move toward Tikedhunga from Nayapul, the scenery becomes greener which will take about 4-5 hours of walking distance. Overnight stay at Tikedhunga.

Day 04: Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani
This trek is one of the memorable day of the trek which begins by ascending stone stairs to Ulleri, a charming Magar village. The trails take you through beautiful blooming rhododendron flowers and oak tree forests on the way to Banthani, and it takes you around 6-8 hours to reach Ghorepani.

Day 05: Early morning Hike to Poon Hill (3,200m), Trek to Ghandruk (2,012 m)
Wake up early to catch the breathtaking views of sunrise over the Himalayas. Watch the colors changes as the golden light reflects off majestic peaks like Dhaulagiri (8167m), Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna III (7855m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna South (729m), Nilgiri (6940m), Tukuche (6920m), Varaha Shikhar (7847m), and Lamjung Himal (6931m).
After the breakfast at Lodge, begins your trek via Tadapani to the beautiful Gurung village of Ghandruk, which usually takes around 6 to 7 hours of walking.

Day 06: Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul, Drive to Pokhara
You will start a short trek about 4-5 hours descending through forests and villages to Nayapul. This is a relaxing day and from Nayapul take a scenic drive to Pokhara. After checking into your hotel, celebrate the completion of the trek with a lakeside dinner.

Day 07: Return back to Kathmandu from Pokhara

Good To Know
Accommodation
Your accommodation is arranged in a 3-star hotel in Kathmandu. During the trek you will be staying at lodges/teahouses with basic facilities including attached bathrooms and hot water service. At lower altitudes you will get the desired service, but at higher elevations, the quality may decrease while the rate of service may vary, and only basic trekking necessities are provided.
Meals During the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek
In Kathmandu, your hotel includes breakfast, whereas all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) will be provided during the trek. A staple food of these regions is Dal-Bhat (curry & rice), along with green vegetables and Roti-Tarkari (bread with curry). There is a limited choice of food at higher elevations, so expect simple, hearty meals. The local cuisine is high in carbohydrates – an excellent source of energy needed at high altitudes. You definitely won’t go hungry.
Transportation
We use a private vehicle for sightseeing and for the airport to hotel pick and drop off. We use public transportation or local buses during the trek.
Physical fitness
This can be a tiring trek where you often have to walk 6-7 hours a day. You don’t need past experience of hiking or trekking, but if you have done any kind of trekking activities then it is always a plus! We have met people from all walks of life, shapes, and sizes who have completed the trek.
The only difficult part is when altitude sickness strikes and the effect that it can have on your body. Before leaving for Nepal, it is good if you can prepare yourself physically by increasing your stamina and oxygen intake. Otherwise, let’s just move forward – nature will take care of the rest. You will forget your tiredness when you get involved with the scenes offered by Ghorepani and all along the way.
Cancellation Policy for Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek:
At Epic Trek Nepal, we understand the changes in plan unexpectedly. That is why we designed it to be fair and clear.
Cancellation Notice:
By any reason, if you need to cancel tour trek then please inform us at least 7 days before your scheduled Trek start date.
Administrative Fee:
When you cancel the trek, 25% fee will be reduced from the total cost of trek as administrative charge. This fee covers the planning and organizational cost we’ve already done for your trip.
Non-Refundable Period:
If the cancellation happen less than 4 days before the trek start date, no refund will be provided but by looking at the situation and if we feel the reason of cancelation is valid then the amount will be refunded after deducting 70% of total trek amount. In such time we have already submitted the cost and reserved the spots for you.
Documentation Support:
We know insurance claim can be important. In-case if you cancel, we would gladly provide the necessary document such as receipts to help with your insurance process.
Unused Accommodation:
Please note that if your trek is cancel due to personal reasons, illness or bad weather, refunds for unused accommodation are not available.

Permits & Paperwork
For Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, there are two required permits: ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Permit) and TIMS (Trekking Information Management System) card. Both ACAP and TIMS permits are mandatory for the Poon Hill trek. You can obtain these permits from Nepal Tourism Board offices in either Kathmandu or Pokhara. If you book your trek with an agency, you don’t have to worry – just give them a copy of your passport and they will handle all permit arrangements.
