Kathmandu to Salleri

Then, from Dhulikhel, the journey continues through BP Highway. You will pass through various places such as Bhakundabesi, Mangaltar, Nepalthok, Dumja and Khurkot. From Khurkot, you continue the journey to Ghurmi, and the journey proceeds on the Madhya Pahadi Highway to Okhaldhunga. Once again, it is scenic and passes through various villages and river throughout the drive.

From Okhaldhunga, the road gets quite bumpy as you head up to Salleri which serve as the district headquarter of Solukhumbu district.

Salleri to Surkhe

The second stage starts form Salleri, followed by Jubling and Kharikhola, which are two small village along the trail route with a very basic teahouse. The route goes further past Bupsa before reaching Thamdanda and Paiya.

From Paiya onwards, the jeep takes the last leg of the drive to Surkhe. The road here is mostly off road and it takes time due to that. From Surkhe, Lukla is a short hike of around 45 minutes to an hour, while for Phakding the distance is a few hours more.

Road Conditions from Kathmandu to Surkhe Jeep Rental

The Kathmandu to Surkhe Jeep Rental route is divided in two parts which is completely different from each other, and you need to know them in advance which help you prepare for this journey.

Highway Section

Firstly, the distance from Kathmandu to Salleri is approximately 265 to 270 km, most of which is well maintained road. During the journey, you will go through small hills, rivers valleys and constantly turning road in the mountains. In general, this part of the route will take you 8 to 10 hours depending on how many breaks you take during the trip. As usual, some difficulties may arise due to the poor road condition, landslides and monsoon damage.

Off-road section

But the situation is completely different between Salleri to Surkhe. This particular part is about 55 to 64 km in length and rough throughout the path. Due to dust, loose gravel and sharp bends, travel in this section would be slower compared to first half. Also, during the rainy season, the trail might become muddy and even get block for some time.

Travel Tips for the Journey

Some preparation is always useful, so take a note of what you should remember about your journey ahead.

Try to start as early as possible. Departing from Kathmandu early departure allows having more daylight while traveling on the dirt road near Surkhe as it becomes harder to travel through the dirt road at night

A visit to the Himalayas in early May at 4 Willmal was one of the long-awaited bucket lists. He took steps hoping that both health and luck could walk along. Although it rained frequently in early May due to the unpleasant weather, the cluster that could be seen throughout the walk was a great consolation for the tired footsteps of the dandelions. More than 10 meters tall are called the national trees of Nepal. For the first time in the Himalayas, the large and colourful flower feathers of the Himalayas seem to emerge in a dream. Trekking here seems to be more difficult as you become aware of your destination. With a sense of putting everything down, I had to step one step and move forward. Like the careless jacks here. Finally arrived at the Base Camp Lodge and fell asleep in the expectation of tomorrow's Everest panorama. At 3 o'clock in the morning, we left for approximately two hours to reach the view peak. The sunrise expected was difficult to see in a dark shade, but the magnificent and breathtaking Mount Everest mountain ranges showed a wind-like look. After completing the base camp trip with a cut 'Chalkock' photographed on the background, we travelled through Shambeshi, the area of Solunabou, and visited the nearby Tibetan Buddhist temple 'Keten Kuling' to see the sherpa people and the village that lived as a group around it. The purity and integrity of these mountainous people may come from a life of conformity to nature and religion. He helped us complete this journey safely. Mr. Thank you very much to Bhanu and Porter.
