After dinner, the guide will visit you at your hotel to brief you about the Nepal Tibet tour program, including important advice about acclimatization, do’s and don’ts, and other information about the tour schedule. It will serve you well to get any final doubts clarified and put any remaining worries to rest before the start of the journey. Trip Information
Difficulty Level
I would assume that the Nepal Tibet tour is quite an easy to moderate trip. In other words, one does not have to be an experienced trekker or mountaineer with good skills. However, the participant must be prepared for numerous transfers and altitude changes.
Everything is rather relaxed in Nepal, and you will have no problem in visiting some cities and other landmarks in the region. Visiting Pokhara and Nagarkot will even become your pleasure.
Once one gets into Lhasa, the story changes a little bit. The altitude exceeds 3,600 meters, and this may influence one’s health condition. Getting a headache or feeling some fatigue at the beginning is absolutely normal.
However, one good thing about this Nepal Tibet tour is that there are always days included in the program specifically for acclimation. You will have a chance to explore monasteries and other sites of interest gradually, which is great to avoid altitude sickness. All you need is just to be in a good shape, drink plenty of water, and avoid haste. This trip suits practically everyone despite their age and level of training.
Weather and Best Season
The Nepal Tibet tour takes you through many kinds of environments, it becomes quite difficult to predict the type of weather you will encounter during your trip. In cities such as Kathmandu and Pokhara, expect mostly pleasant weather throughout the year. However, once you reach Lhasa, expect cold dry weather as you will be at high altitudes.
When it comes to the best time to visit Nepal Tibet, spring (March to May) would rank among the highest on the list. It is marked by beautiful clear blue skies, blossoming flowers, and clear mountains that can be seen from miles away. This period brings good travel conditions both in Nepal and in Tibet.
Another amazing season for visiting Nepal Tibet Tour Itinerary is autumn (September to November). Travelers get extremely good weather conditions and clear air following the rains during the monsoon period. There is incredible visibility in the Himalayan mountains during these months.
Winter season (December to February) becomes cold, particularly in Tibet. There could be areas where it would become difficult to cope with the conditions, but what you get is blue skies and no crowd at all.
The Monsoon season (June to August) brings plenty of rainfall in Nepal, but it remains relatively dry in Tibet. You can plan your trip during this period, but be aware that you may face some cloudy days in Nepal.
In general, the most recommended time for your Nepal Tibet tour Itinerary would be the spring and autumn seasons.
Visa and Permits
Dealing with the documentation for the Nepal Tibet tour could be a nuisance, but you do not have to worry about it. With our Nepal Tibet tour package, you will have no trouble at all because we take care of the entire documentation and permit application process so you can fully focus on enjoying your holidays without having to worry about the paperwork.
As far as obtaining a permit for the Nepal part of your holiday is concerned, most tourists are able to apply for one once they land in Nepal. It is a simple process and we will assist you if you have any issues obtaining it.
However, when it comes to Tibet, things can get a bit complicated because you require specific permits to enter Tibet. Moreover, traveling to Tibet is only possible through a travel agency. Thus, you need the Tibet Travel Permit and some other documents that we (Epic Trek Nepal) will obtain in advance for you.
You will also require a Chinese Group Visa for visiting Tibet. Our company ensures that your visa is taken care of at Kathmandu before you depart to Lhasa from there. Don’t bother about any hassle because our experts know how to deal with everything and they do everything for the best.
Also, there are some particular areas which require permits for entry as well as some monasteries. All these permits are also taken care of through us in this Nepal Tibet tour package.
In other words, we aim to make sure that you don’t have to bother about anything official during your trip. You should be able to enjoy without worrying about anything.
Transportation
Nepal Tibet tour itinerary is well planned, mainly focusing on your convenience and safety while traveling from one place to another. We have ensured that all transportation needs are planned before the start of the Nepal Tibet tour experience.
Within Nepal, there will be private tourist vehicles in case you have to do sightseeing or go long-distance travels between different cities. The route from Kathmandu to Pokhara is pretty good with some beautiful scenery such as rivers, green hills, and rural villages that you can observe during your drive. Moreover, roads will be decent, and you will definitely make some rest stops along the way.
We also arrange some domestic flights when deemed necessary. For example, the return trip from Pokhara to Kathmandu via air travel saves a lot of time and offers better comfort during the tour experience. Besides, we provide pick-up services to some scenic places such as Nagarkot to enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayas.
For your journey to Tibet, you will get to board an international flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa. Trust me, this journey itself makes your trip worthwhile because of the stunning sights you’ll see during the flight through the sky above the Himalayan Mountains. Once in Tibet, you will be travelling in luxurious tourist vehicle driven by locals who know their way around these routes very well.
Longer journeys, such as the journey to Shigatse, will not be an issue for you as these roads are surprisingly well-maintained, and we schedule photo stops during your journey. All in all, your journey by road will be reliable and safe enough to make you not worry about your modes of transportation at all.
Extra Expenses on the Trip
Even though the Nepal Tibet tour package will include everything important, it is highly recommended to keep some cash aside for private purposes, which depend solely on your preferences.
All those meals not included in the program are to be paid separately. Fortunately, there are numerous cafes and restaurants in such cities as Kathmandu and Pokhara offering you anything from typical dal bhat to any international cuisine you could wish for.
Also, do not forget that beverages are not included into the package cost, so you will have to buy water, juices, sodas, beers, cocktails, or other kinds of alcohol. Besides, you will surely need some snacks during drives.
Then there are all the personal things such as doing laundry, making telephone calls, or needing additional internet access. Just a little warning, in some parts of Tibet, WiFi could be unreliable, and you may find yourself having to pay a little something for charging your gadgets in out-of-the-way places.
Another thing is about tipping, which is a part of the Tibetan culture. Tipping your guides and drivers is a custom way of saying “thanks” for keeping an eye out for you during the trip. There’s no hard-and-fast rule as to how much, but you generally tip according to satisfaction and group size. Also, remember to budget some for souvenir items, handmade crafts, or just about any other unexpected entrance fees from unplanned stops.
Don’t on the Trip
In order for the Nepal Tibet tour to run smoothly and be respectful, there are certain things that need to be considered during the whole journey.
Do not neglect altitude issues once you reach Lhasa. Do not drink alcohol and avoid physical activity in the first few days.
Do not disrespect culture and religion. If you visit temples and monasteries, make sure to dress conservatively and follow all directions from your guide. Do not touch anything sacred without permission.
Do not photograph anything if it is forbidden. Do not forget to always ask before taking photographs of someone.
Do not travel alone in Tibet. There are strict regulations that require you to follow the rules during your Nepal Tibet tour.
Do not destroy nature in both Nepal and Tibet. It is very important to preserve the environment and keep everything beautiful.
Lastly, do not be too hasty on your Nepal Tibet trip. Enjoy each minute and learn about everything.
Photography and Drone Rules
Photography will certainly be a priority for anyone heading there, yet the guidelines on where it is allowed to take photos differ significantly from Nepal to Tibet. It is pretty much permissible to click anywhere around Nepal, including Kathmandu and Pokhara. In particular, in public squares, on viewpoints, and in major cultural landmarks. The only exception is that you may come across “no photo” signs when entering some temples or heritage buildings.
In Tibet, the case is somewhat different. The use of cameras while photographing the surroundings and the streets of Lhasa as well as outer parts of religious buildings, including the Jokhang Temple and monasteries, is permitted. On the other hand, taking pictures indoors, for instance, in the main monastery halls, is strictly prohibited. Moreover, remember to ask for permission when you would like to take a picture of any monk or Tibetan person as it may seem rude not to do so.
Whereas in the case of drones, they are very heavily regulated in Tibet, where you cannot simply use them anytime but require special licenses ahead of time. In addition, drones are usually prohibited in proximity to areas that are religious or on borders. Similarly, there are specific regulations in Nepal as well, whereby drone flights are required to be approved especially near sites that have cultural heritage or tourist spots. For the convenience of the trip and not run into any trouble, it is better to follow the local laws.
Language and Communication
The language barrier does not become an issue in this journey because you will travel in a group, guided by an experienced Nepal Tibet tour package.
Firstly, in Nepal, you will discover that the English language is widely used by locals. In tourist sites such as Kathmandu and Pokhara, it becomes easy to communicate with other individuals from hotels, restaurants, and retail shops.
Secondly, in Tibet, the two major languages are Tibetan and Mandarin, which means that English does not become common when traveling outside Lhasa City. In such instances, the services of a guide will come in handy because they will translate between you and the locals and introduce you to local customs that you would fail to recognize.
In terms of connection, mobile phones and the internet are available in the major cities. However, there may be difficulties in some remote places. You should notify your relatives and friends that you may be unreachable during the Nepal Tibet tour.
Festivals, Monasteries & Cultural Encounters during this Tour
Nepal Tibet Tour is more than just a tour, it is all about experiencing its culture. You will find lots of things to witness in terms of rituals and ceremonies that continue to thrive till today. Each destination on your Nepal Tibet tour has something special to offer.
In Kathmandu, there are many festivals held. And if you are lucky enough to be around during any of them, you can be a part of the biggest events such as Dashain or Tihar. There are vibrant displays of colors and lighting along with a lot of crowds gathered all around. Life and religion go hand-in-hand in Nepal.
You will also have a chance to visit heritage sites such as Bhaktapur Durbar Square, which can give you an opportunity to experience the ancient times. Just imagine yourself strolling around those small narrow lanes, where you’ll be able to interact with the locals working on their art pieces and visiting historical temples.
When the Nepal Tibet tour itinerary begins moving into Tibet, the spiritual feeling intensifies. For instance, in Lhasa, the monasteries become more than just a tourist attraction – they are lively and buzzing centers of belief. Undoubtedly, the first icon that catches attention is the Potala palace. However, visiting other monasteries, one witnesses pilgrims praying inside or outside while moving around the monastic area.
Also, it is essential to note the visits to the Sera or Drepung monasteries, which become another memorable event. If you are lucky, you can attend the monks’ discussions when they actively argue. This process is loud and very energetic and, without any doubt, one of the most exciting moments for learning. Also, it is worth mentioning that such visits may become even more colorful if you come during a local holiday, like .
Thus, the combination of religious celebrations, monasteries, and interaction with the locals makes this Nepal Tibet tour package extremely interesting and unique.
Major Attraction on the Nepal Tibet Tour Package
The Nepal Tibet tour covers almost everything important from the perspective of culture and natural features. All places visited in the course of the tour have their own story associated with historical events and unique natural sites of Himalayan mountains.
As for Nepal, the major cultural sites to see during the tour are cultural heritage monuments located in Kathmandu. These are old temples and royal squares giving a sense of immersion into a historical atmosphere. The next notable attraction is a city of Pokhara, which is known for its relaxing lakeside location surrounded by mountains and making people forget about the busy life in the city.
Among memorable moments, it should be mentioned a breathtaking sunrise on Sarangkot. Also, tourists will see Nagarkot known for its incredible views of Himalayas. Finally, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a UNESCO site, must be mentioned as it features medieval architecture.
Once you are in Tibet, the spiritual aspect comes into full swing in Lhasa, with the grandiose Potala Palace towering in all its glory, as the ultimate cultural emblem of Tibet. In addition, you will visit the Jokhang Temple, along with Sera and Drepung monasteries. If you have more time on your hands, you can also check out the peaceful aura at Ganden Monastery. Each place will definitely add to your adventure and leave a lasting impression.
Tips for first time travelers
If this is your first trip to Nepal Tibet tour, then you can make some preparations before leaving your home. Because you will be touring two entirely different places, what you need to do is simply go with the flow.
The first place where you have to go to begin this tour is Kathmandu. You need to spend some time adjusting yourself with the local vibe. There may be some chaos in the streets because of the traffic, but remember, it is a very unique experience itself.
As far as packing, be smart about it, and don’t pack too much. You are going to experience a change from the heat of Nepal to the coldness of Lhasa, so dressing in layers becomes a necessity rather than an option. Remember to carry your basic necessities, which include sunscreen, sunglasses, and water bottles.
Staying hydrated is key as soon as you start climbing above a particular altitude level. Eat light, avoid consuming beer during your stay in Lhasa to ease your body into the adjustment process. But most importantly, follow your guide! The Nepal Tibet Tour package is well-planned and your guides have your safety in mind and will make sure that you get to appreciate the nature and culture. Remember to carry some money along with you for personal expenses.
Travel Insurance
I would recommend purchasing travel insurance for the Nepal Tibet tour package. Even though the trip will be thoroughly planned, unforeseen circumstances may arise due to the challenging nature of the journey.
Ensure that your travel insurance package provides adequate coverage of medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and delays. Because you will be traveling at high altitudes in places such as Lhasa, you should check whether the plan offers coverage for altitude-related emergencies and evacuation.
The medical services available in remote areas in Tibet are limited, meaning that in the event of a medical emergency, evacuation may become necessary. In case you encounter problems, insurance is the last thing you should be worrying about. You can use the insurance for other reasons such as the loss of baggage or flights. I recommend having electronic and physical copies of your documentation and providing them to the tour operator.
In conclusion, having dependable travel insurance makes your travels more reassuring. This will ensure that despite any unforeseen circumstances, your trip around Nepal Tibet tour will go on without a hitch.
