Dear Travelers,
Namaste and warm greetings from Nepal.
My name is Bhanubhakta Rai, and I was born in the Solukhumbu district of Nepal, the home of Mount Everest and one of the most famous trekking destinations in the world. Growing up in the Himalayas allowed me to experience the beauty, culture, and traditions of mountain life from an early age. I am also a licensed trekking professional in Nepal and have dedicated my life to the tourism industry.
Like many Nepalese families living in remote villages, my family faced financial challenges while I was growing up. In our community, many young people worked in the trekking industry as porters and, with experience, some became guides. Because trekking offered one of the few opportunities to earn a good income, I decided to follow the same path.
I traveled to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region and the starting point of many trekking adventures. Although Lukla was some distance from my village, I was determined to find work there. The beginning was not easy, and finding a job was difficult. However, with patience and hard work, I eventually found opportunities as a porter and sometimes as a porter-guide.
Later, I decided to go abroad and moved to South Korea for employment. Even before leaving Nepal, I had always planned to gain experience overseas, learn new skills, and one day return home to contribute to Nepal’s tourism sector. I worked in South Korea for more than six years, where I gained valuable knowledge and experience. Although I had a stable and well-paying job, my dream of serving travelers in Nepal remained strong. Therefore, I made the difficult decision to leave my high-income job and return to Nepal to pursue my passion in tourism.
After returning home, I noticed many differences between Nepal and more developed countries, especially in infrastructure, transportation, and public services. I also realized that some travelers arrive in Nepal expecting the same standards and systems as in their own countries. Sometimes, things do not happen exactly as expected, which can lead to disappointment.
Nepal is a unique and diverse nation. It is home to many ethnic groups, religions, languages, and cultures. This diversity is one of Nepal’s greatest strengths and makes our country truly special. Life here moves differently, and not everything always runs according to schedule. Roads, transportation, and facilities may not be the same as those in your home country.
As someone who has lived and worked abroad, I understand the expectations of international travelers, and our team always strives to provide the best possible service. At the same time, I kindly ask our guests to experience Nepal with an open mind and appreciate the country for what it is—a beautiful, authentic, and evolving destination with its own culture and way of life.
Travel is not only about reaching a destination; it is also about understanding people, embracing differences, and creating unforgettable memories.
