How Difficult is the Everest Luxury Heli Trek
The Everest Luxury Heli Trek is a moderate level difficulty, which doesn’t involve any technical part and require any previous trekking skills in order to do this trek. Just a basic fitness is enough to complete this trek without any problem.
During your Everest Heli trek, the toughest and longest trek will be from Phakding to Namche Bazaar that take up to 8 hours because of constant ascending. There is quite a bit of ascent involved on this day, but the pace is extremely slow, making it manageable for anyone.
Altitude is going to be the biggest issue facing us on this trek. We will climb up to 3,880m at the Everest View Hotel, and after that we fly by helicopter much higher.
Since this will be a short and intense itinerary without any acclimatization day, it will be necessary for your body to get acclimatized to the rising altitude. On the day 4, you reach the Everest View Hotel in short time. From there, you get an opportunity to enjoy the panoramic view of Khumjung village, lust green valley and the Sherpa village.
You will have time to explore the surrounding area which allow your body naturally adjust to high altitude before helicopter flight the next morning.
Preparation for the Everest Luxury Heli Trek
For this trek, there is no requirement that you should be an extreme athlete in order to do successfully complete this trek. But, if you can do some preparation in advance like six to eight weeks before the start of your trek, it would be very helpful. Even though it doesn’t involve walking for many days, it is still important to focus on your cardio workout like walking, cycling and hiking uphill with a weighted backpack.
It is also important to train your muscles. There will be constant load on the leg muscles and knees during your uphill hike. If you train your leg muscles and core muscles in advance, then your trekking to Namche will not seem too hard to you.
Preparation in mental terms is as important as preparing physically for the trip. It is an experience that might be short but highly demanding. You need to start the trek with positive thinking, realistic expectations, and excitement!
Luxury Accommodation
Accommodation is one of the most distinguishing factors of the Everest Luxury Heli Trek. All accommodation during the entire journey is specially selected for their quality and services which make it one of the luxuries trekking in Nepal.
The trip starts from the luxurious hotel chosen in advance for you in Kathmandu itself. It has enough rooms space, offers great facilities such as hot showers, dining, etc. I can assure you that after the long flight to Nepal, you will need to feel comfortable, which is why you need a good hotel to start with.
While on the hike, you will continue to enjoy high standards of accommodation possible under the conditions of trekking. In Phakding, you will be staying in the best premium lodge on the way. It is really surprising how comfortable one feels there in private rooms with clean beds and good atmosphere.
Namche Bazaar has some of the best mountain lodges in the whole region around the Everest. The best hotels of Namche Bazaar have private rooms, bathroom when there is one and heated dining areas from where it will be easy for you to warm up after the tiring trek of the day. It is a great trekking spot, and the best lodges here will definitely impress you.
It will be the climax of your journey when you stay at the Everest View Hotel. The Everest View Hotel is situated at an altitude of 3,880m and it will offer you magnificent views of the Himalayas, private rooms and great service before you leave by helicopter the next morning.
On the Everest Luxury Heli trek, priority is always given to private rooms at all stops. Heating in the dining room at every lodge will ensure that you have a warm place where you can have your meal and prepare yourself for the next day. The luxurious trek in Nepal ensures comfort even in remote places in the mountains.
Visa and Permit
All international tourist wishing to take part in the Everest Heli Trek must have require permits and documents. First one that you need is tourist visa which can be obtained on arrival at Tribhuvan Internation Airport.
The tourist visas are issued for 15, 30, and 90 days. As for this trek, 15-day visa will be enough, since the whole trip lasts just six days. Just don’t forget about one important detail – your passport should have at least six months validity left from the day of arrival to Nepal.
In addition to the visa, there are two particular permits you will need to have in order to enter the Everest region. First, it is the Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit, which allows access to the protected region around Mount Everest. Second, it is the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit, which is mandatory for all trekkers entering the Khumbu region.
Both of these permits will be organized by us “Epic Trek Nepal” before the start of your trek, so you will not be bothered with visiting government agencies at all, saving a lot of time.
Health and Safety
In every trek health and safety come first even in this Everest Luxury Heli Trek. Everything related to the trek has been carefully designed for safety and risk management Guides and other support staff member work together to ensure that your safety is guaranteed all the time.
Acute mountain sickness (AMS) is the most common health issue that all trekkers experience even experienced when taking part in the Everest Luxury Heli trek. The trail rises very quickly to higher altitudes, and in my honest opinion, everybody does not acclimatize at the same rate. Headache, vomiting, dizziness, and tiredness are symptoms that you should take very seriously. In this case, your guide ensures that your health status is okay on a daily basis.
To overcome this, trek up to the Everest View Hotel on the fourth day automatically helps your body to acclimatize to the high altitude for the next day’s helicopter flight. Drinking of at least three or four liters of water per day decreases chances of AMS by a lot. Avoid taking any alcohol or smoking throughout the trek.
A good trekking company like Epic Trek Nepal always carries basic first aid kits and communicates directly with the rescue teams if anything goes wrong. You will also receive all the necessary information about how to act in emergencies during your safety briefing held on the first day.
Go trekking with a reliable agency is a crucial step on its own. The presence of certified guides and emergency protocols plays a big role when you trek in a mountainous area. Do not try to save money at the cost of your health and safety.
Travel Insurance
Travel Insurance is not something that we provide and you should get it yourself before the start of the Everest Heli trek. It is important to get one because this trek goes through high altitude in the mountain. Travel insurance gives you the cover you need should anything happen or even if worse comes to worst. For example, in case of an accident, sickness, or situations where you may need evacuation from the journey.
You need to have travel insurance that explicitly covers trekking in the high altitudes up to a minimum height of 6,000 meters. Ensure that your insurance policy includes coverage for all forms of trip cancellations, delays, and medical expenses. As high-altitude trekking can be dangerous, in case of any injuries or illnesses, it is necessary that you get treated without having to worry about any financial burden.
